NEW YEAR NEW DECADE NEW GROWTH
December 28, 2009

Happy New Year and New Decade Folks, We want to thank all of you who have supported Southeast Engine over the last decade and hope you continue to follow us through the next one. Southeast Engine is starting off this new decade with a bunch of shows this January. We're playing two shows in Indiana before making our way to Chicago, Illinois. We're also really excited to be opening for one our favorite bands The Wrens in Boston for a rare performance. Their album The Meadowlands was easily one of the best albums of the decade. We will most likely be adding another show or two around this Boston date as well (we'll keep you posted.) We'll return home for a show in Athens to finish up the month before entering the studio in February to record our next album. New growth is what we're looking for.

Paste Magazine's "Best of What's Next" | SEE on Paste Sampler | Learning New Instruments | Into the Hill | Moon Jaw Records | Upcoming Shows
September 1, 2009

There have been some really cool developments recently. Southeast Engine is featured in the August issue of Paste Magazine. The band occupies the entire first page of a piece called "The Best of What's Next" and the song "Black Gold" from the latest record – From the Forest to the Sea – is also included on the sampler. View the article online here.

Southeast Engine has been taking a break since returning from our tour in the spring supporting From the Forest to the Sea. However, the band has stayed busy: Leo has been hard at work on his burgeoning label Moon Jaw Records, Billy took up old-time fiddle, Adam took up clawhammer banjo, and Jesse sang on stage with no other than the great Robert Pollard of Guided by Voices. Many a song has been written in this off-time as well in order to begin work on the next chapter of the life of Southeast Engine.

Also, the band will make its live return in October on Halloween weekend with shows in Columbus, Ohio and Athens, Ohio. In the meantime, Adam Remnant plays solo this coming Thursday, Sept. 3 in Athens, Ohio @ Casa Nueva opening for Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, who recently had a 2 page spread in Rolling Stone. The show is FREE! Adam along with brother Jesse Remnant will also play on Saturday, Sept. 5 in Dayton, Ohio @ Canal Street Tavern. Jesse Remnant and the Trainwrecks headline the show.

Also, the webzine Into the Hill has deemed From the Forest to the Sea the number one album of the year thus far! See their year list and the wonderful review they wrote. The band couldn't be more pleased with the kind words that have been attributed to our album.

Here's a link to the site of Moon Jaw Records where you can learn more about the label, and scroll down to view a video of Southeast Engine performing a cover of Leonard Cohen's "The Traitor" in Austin, Texas at this year's SXSW.

Moon Jaw Records Night
May 2, 2009

Moon Jaw Records (the new imprint of Absolutely Kosher / Misra that pressed "From the Forest to the Sea" on 180 gram vinyl) will be hosting the first ever "Moon Jaw Records Night" at Donkey Coffee in Athens, Ohio on Saturday, June 20 at 7 pm. The show will start right at 7 and will end by 9 or so, so you don't have to worry about losing any sleep.

Adam Remnant of Southeast Engine will be playing a solo set this evening. Also on the bill will be the phenomenal Theodore from St. Louis, Missouri. Theodore is part of the Undertow Collective (Pedro the Lion, Damien Jurado, Centro-matic, etc.) and is in cahoots with both Moon Jaw and SEE. This is one of the most raw and real bands playing these days and you don't wanna miss this show. You can check them out at myspace.com/theodoreacoustic or theodoremusic.net. Yes.
